Thirty years in real estate and a billion dollars in team sales, Cathy Prenner is still passionate about the business. Her southeast Florida team of mostly family members, including husband Jack, joined Keller Williams after a decade-long “courtship.”
The Prenners felt it was the right time to make a move when the broker they were fond of retired.
“We liked the [Keller Williams] culture, the way they feel about people … Everything they feel, we feel the same,” she says.
Cathy spent decades building a global referral network that specializes in luxury and waterfront homes in Broward and Palm Beach counties. Jack was a commercial agent, went into hospital administration, then circled back to real estate.
He believes in founder Gary Keller’s philosophy as explained in The Millionaire Real Estate Agent.
“It’s not about becoming a millionaire; it’s about being the best you can be. That’s an easy fit for The Prenner Group,” Jack says.
The team’s No. 1 rule has always been putting customer interests first and their interests second, he says. If they don’t get the listing the first time, they get it later due to The Prenner Group’s good reputation.
“We are always trying to learn and trying to improve, knowing that what we did yesterday isn’t [necessarily] the best thing to do tomorrow,” says Jack.
Part of improving is learning all the time and problem-solving, Cathy emphasizes. “I love changing… If you don’t do that, you are not going to be as successful.”
Jack realizes they have a lot to be grateful for.
“We feel very grateful for this business because it’s been the right one for us. Not everyone finds what’s right for them. Pretty readily, I’m grateful for the people who let us work with them.”
