In just his third year in real estate, Michael Martinetti and his team closed 190 transactions for $78 million, placing him in the top 1% of Realtors in New Jersey. His original goal was to be the number one agent in his hometown of Union, New Jersey, which he had accomplished by his second year. Though extremely calculated and strategic, Martinetti doesn’t value safe choices. He left his good teaching job right before he achieved tenure to make sure that he wouldn’t have job security. He felt the tug to real estate for the same reasons he loved teaching so much: Helping people. At 29, he’s lived his whole life in the same town and went straight to his lifelong friends and family in his local community to kick-start his business. What matters to him has nothing to do with the rules of success; it’s being zealous on behalf of his clients, and stopping at nothing to help them.
After some short-lived trial and error, he formed a team and struck up some partnerships with lenders, attorneys, and title companies to create a one-stop shop for his clients. Now the Martinetti Real Estate Group is 12 agents strong and ambitiously growing. He credits being on a team as a critical part of his out-of-the-gate success. “For all of the new agents out there, I was in your exact position three years ago. My advice to you is this … Join a team. It’s the best decision you can ever make. If I hadn’t joined a team to learn from a top agent, I would never have been in the position I am fortunate to be in today.”
In fact, building his team is what prompted him to leave RE/MAX and join KW Metropolitan Brokers at the end of 2019. “It’s amazing what you can accomplish when you put yourself in the right environment for growth.” Keller Williams’ reputation for training was a lure for Martinetti. “The agents on my team put their trust in me to help educate them. I’m trying to share and teach as much as I can, but I’m learning too. Keller Williams has top-notch models, systems, education, and technology, so all we have to do is plug in and go.”
Real estate has been an unexpected joy for Martinetti. He loves it so much and is laser-focused on not only getting himself to the next level, but each and every person on his team. “I want the people around me to be extremely successful. That’s ultimately what motivates me. We do well together, and we’ve achieved a lot already, but we’re just getting started. We’re so excited about where our collaboration with Keller Williams will take us.”
