On Thursday, May 14, 2020, Keller Williams associates from around the world took a step back from their real estate businesses and showed their local communities love as part of RED Day – this time, with a socially distant and digital twist. Now in its 12th year, RED Day; which stands for Renew, Energize, and Donate; is an annual, global day of service held on the second Thursday of May.
Making a difference in the lives of others is a core part of the Keller Williams culture, and although this year’s circumstances called for a different approach, the company’s 180,000+ associates in 1,000-plus offices found creative ways to better their communities while staying safe and socially distant.
“Our goal this year is for our KW family to serve their communities in the safest way possible,” says KWRI VP of Operations Ellen Curtis. “This is a challenging time for everyone in our ecosystem, so taking a day to look up, look out to our communities, and serve, is the number one thing we need to do to recharge and renew our own batteries so that we can serve each other, our teams, and our communities at a higher level. This will surely be a RED Day to remember!”

Keller Williams’ New York Region
Keller Williams’ New York region had a busy RED Day filled with creative initiatives that gave back to their communities, and even tapping KWRI’s Josh Team and Jason Abrams for help. In a RED Day Zoomathon, Team interviewed the NY Yankees’ general manager Brian Cashman and Abrams interviewed pitcher Mariano Rivera. The interviews raised more than $50,000 for charities such as KW Cares, The Safe Center LI, Spectrum Designs Foundation, Helping Hand Rescue Mission, and the American Red Cross.
Collectively, the region’s 43 market centers raised more than $187,500, and many of their campaigns are still in motion. One market center assembled more than 25,000 face shields, sewed 750 face masks, and wrote 700 handwritten notes of encouragement to frontline workers and patients.
KIND Agent Group (Honolulu, Hawaii)
In Hawaii, the ‘Aloha Spirit’ keeps the KIND Agent Group strong and ready to pivot at a moment’s notice. One evening, Sasha Mason had a dream about an old TV telethon – and today, that dream becomes a part of RED Day history. To give back, the team hosted a “Post COVID-19 RED Day Relief Telethon,” raising $6,500 for rent and utility relief for families affected during the pandemic, helping to secure housing for domestic violence survivors who have left abusive partners during this time. The team plans on continuing call efforts, with the ultimate goal of raising $50,000.
“We are confident we can help at least 20 families and make a positive impact within our community,” Mason says.
Palm Beaches Market Center (Palm Beach Gardens, Florida)
This year, KW Palm Beaches associates showcased their giving spirit by collecting food donations for humans and pets at their office and via online donations. The items are being donated to Palm Beach County Food Bank and Peggy’s Pantry, a program that helps assist families with feeding their pets.
“We chose these local food banks because both have experienced an overwhelming demand for help from Palm Beach County residents, and we’d like to do our part by helping them restock,” shares agent and Keller Williams Palm Beaches RED Day committee member Denise Brestle.
Summit / Premier Properties (Summit, New Jersey)
For KW Summit / Premier Properties, RED Day extends beyond 24 hours. The team has been hard at work, assembling and distributing more than 25,000 face shields to doctors and nurses, sewing and distributing more than 500 face masks, and writing more than 500 notes of encouragement for frontline healthcare workers.
“We started in mid-March on the shields and then added the other two projects and made it all RED Month, or RED Season,” shares Pollock Properties Group leader Vanessa Pollock.
Keller Williams Realty International
For this year’s RED Day, KWRI shifted gears, sending love and support to families, frontline workers, and nursing home residents. The headquarters team collected food and monetary resources in support of local food banks, and delivered more than 1,400 letters of support and comfort for Austin’s essential workers and vulnerable populations through Care-a-Van parades.
They’ve also created a fun online learning page for families, featuring coding classes, and encouraging kids everywhere to take action and live a big life.
