6 Ways to Move Through Mega Camp 2021 Like a Pro

Lalaina Rabary | August 16, 2021

For more than 20 years, Keller Williams has brought together the brightest minds in real estate to share best practices at Mega Camp. For the second consecutive year, the conference has moved from Austin, Texas, to a virtual setting, providing the same power-packed training, inspiration, and networking that attendees have enjoyed for more than two decades. This immersive environment allows for a more personalized, accessible, one-to-one experience from the comfort of your own home. From insightful breakouts focusing on leads, listings, leverage, and wealth building to a list of VIP guests and presenters, event organizers have handcrafted a unique experience to offer everything you need to win in 2021 and beyond.

To help you make the most out of your Mega Camp experience, take a look at the strategies we’ve outlined below. And if you haven’t registered yet, it’s not too late! We have a front-row seat waiting for you.

Create a personalized agenda.

Begin by looking at the gaps in your business and career – areas where you are struggling and would like to grow. Then, once you enter the platform, customize your agenda from a list of more than 25 breakouts and live sessions

Be intentional about your learning.

Don’t be a passive participant. Engage in every session you attend by coupling these tried-and-true learning techniques with the following features:

  • Notes: Keeping track of your ideas and aha’s has never been easier. In every virtual room, you can jot down your notes in a highlighted section. When you’re done, hit “Save” and they will be delivered to your profile. At any time, you can export your notes to one place. No more scouring through a sea of disjointed, handwritten pages when the conference concludes.

Pro Tip: As you take notes, Jay Papasan, VP of learning, recommends coming up with a system (starring, underlining, bolding text, etc.) to identify the important ideas in each session you’d like to remember.

“That way, at the end of the day or experience, you can quickly scan through to create an action plan to put in motion after leaving the conference,” he shares. “The ultimate goal is to turn your to-do list into a success list – meaning, transforming all the things that you COULD do into the handful of things you SHOULD do once your ideas have been identified and prioritized.”

  • Commenting/Upvoting/Polls: Attend the sessions at the live times to interact with your peers as well as the presenters/panelists through the polls and commenting feature. You never know what special guests will drop in …

Also, sharing your aha’s and ideas gives others around you the opportunity to glean important insights to support their business and elevate our industry. Together, everyone achieves more.

Grow your network (and net worth).

As KW’s head of industry Jason Abrams shares, relationships built on mutual value (and established through networking) are the key to unlocking new opportunities:

At Family Reunion years ago, I struck up a conversation with a real estate agent in which I shared my mission, values, and how they showed up in my customer experience.

Months after we met, long after Family Reunion had come and gone, she called to see if I could help her professional football client who had planned to play in her hometown of Miami, but was signing with the Detroit Lions instead. I jumped into a limo and showed him a selection of homes. When I got the check for the house he bought three weeks later, it was the most money I’d ever seen in one place.

Similar to an in-person conference, you will be able to expand your network and net worth at Mega Camp by connecting with fellow attendees. Visit the “Networking” tab on the navigation bar to enter topical chat rooms for leads, listings, leverage, and wealth building, and network with fellow conference goers by tapping into shared topics of conversation.

Additionally, as you make your way through the conference, check out the social feed where attendees will be sharing ideas and insights. See a comment that resonates with you? Send the individual a direct chat. As Abrams illustrated, you are one hello away from your next BIG opportunity.

“Stroll” through the exhibitor hall.

Connect with exhibitors, watch demos, and live chat with members of the KWRI Product Team at a virtual exhibit hall that’s every bit as exciting as the Austin Convention Center. As you take a virtual stroll through, you’ll find a plethora of products that can enhance your business from a host of companies including Docusign, BoomTown, and many more.

Prioritize your health and wellness.

We all know how taxing and draining hours of screen time can be. Here are some tips to help you stay energized and alert day after day:

  • Pre-plan healthy meals and snacks: Choose items that are nutrient-rich, can be prepped in advance, and require little time to throw together.
  • Stay hydrated: Drink a large glass of water when you wake up and keep your bottle next to you so you can easily hydrate throughout the day.
  • Take a break: In between sessions, move. Get outside (and away) from your computer screen. Prevent eye strain with the 20-20-20 rule: every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds.

Aim high. Think big.

While these past two years  have certainly brought its fair share of challenges, Gary Keller reminds us there is promise in every day for those who seek it:

Every shift leaves an opening. A reason to stay in the market. Every problem eventually presents a solution. A way to help someone when they need it most. Today isn’t yesterday, and tomorrow isn’t determined. When the desire to do more comes from a place that’s bigger than ourselves, anything is possible. Potential can become reality. When we pivot, we help others pivot, and together we all have the opportunity to achieve more.

Great tips. I never heard of the 20-20-20 rule when learning or being productive in front of the screen. I will start that great habit now. I will also check into the breakout sessions now too.
